The complement system is an integral part of our immune system and protects our bodies from infections. Since the enzyme cascade is fast and effective, it is tightly regulated. Dysregulation of this system, or mutations in complement factors, can lead to severe consequences in the affected individuals. Patients with complement deficiencies can suffer from severe, recurrent infections from a small age, or battle autoimmunity as constant tissue damage or inflammation increases the risk of developing autoantibodies.
Dunn Labortechnik GmbH offers human complement preserved serum from Innovative Research to study complement activation since many years. Single donor samples as well as pooled serum are available in various packaging sizes.
Each unit is tested for viral markers following FDA-approved methods and found negative for HBsAg, HCV, HIV-1/HIV-2 antigen combo and Treponema pallidum. For samples from single donors, additional information about donor age, gender, and ethnicity is provided.
Besides complement serum, Innovative Research also offers plasma and “Off-the-Clot” serum samples from normal donors and patients. Furthermore, human body fluids such as saliva, sweat, tears, urine, stool, ascites, CSF, breast milk, semen, menstrual blood and many more can be supplied.
