Mcllwain Tissue Chopper

 

This apparatus has been designed to prepare pieces of tissue for metabolic experiments and to be especially applicable to small and irregular specimens available at biopsy or from small organs. Its special features are to cause much less disturbance of cell structure than homogenisers or blenders, and to be applicable to fragments which would be difficult or impossible to cut by ordinary methods. It has been applied to liver, kidney and various parts of the central nervous system.

Slices up to 1 mm thick and cubes or prisms up to
1 mm cross section can be prepared with the chopper in 30 seconds. Provision is made for stepless variation of slice thickness from zero to the maximum by means of an indexing clutch in conjunction with the micrometer head, the latter being calibrated in microns.

 

 

The Mickle High Speed Vibratory Tissue Disintegrator

The Mickle High Speed Vibratory Tissue Disintegrator has been designed for the breaking down of both animal and bacterial tissues and for mixing operations which, in many instances, furnishes results superior to those obtained by ultrasonic equipment. There are no moving parts used for producing the vibration of the reeds so that the possibility of mechanical breakdown is practically nil.

The grinding of colloidizing action is caused by the violent impulses to which the test material is submitted as the reeds to which the sample containers are attached reverse their direction

Der Elektrohandgriff wird mit 12 kurzen Verdünnern ausgerüstet und besticht durch seine einfache und leichte Handhabung. Nur durch leichten Daumendruck zu bedienen, garantiert er optimale, reproduzierbare Verdünnungsreihen. Er ist stets einsetzbar, da er mit einem Netzladegerät versehen ist.

Der Elektrohandgriff ist komplett aus einem Aluminium-Gehäuse hergestellt, das Abflammen der Verdünner ist problemlos.

 

 

DotPunch

 

DotPunch from Inotech Biosystems punches 6 mm discs from membranes processed through any 96-well filtration manifold. Finger-tip pressure on the spring-loaded disc-cutter punches dots cleanly from all microporous membranes (nylon, nitrocellulose, etc.). Radioisotope-labeled discs are deposited directly into the 96 wells of a reusable tray for transfer to scintillation or gamma counting vials. This tray is included with DotPunch. DotPunch is also perfect for Chemiluminescent detection procedures. Discs with biotinylated probes are collected in an 8 x 12 microtiter tray. The subsequent reactions with strepavidin/biotin-alkaline phosphatase/substrate and intervening wash steps are performed in the same microtiter tray.

DotPunch provides the means for convenient, precise quantitation of dot-blot assays in immunology and molecular biology, without the need for tedious manual cutting and slicing of membranes. Semiquantitative approaches through autoradiography and densitometry can be avoided altogether, saving time and ensuring higher quality data.
