Meridian Life Science, Inc. (MLS) is proud to introduce a series of rabbit polyclonal antibodies to swine flu!

• Rabbit antibodies specific to peptides from swine-origin Influenza A/California/14/2009 (H1N1).
  Do not cross-react with the corresponding peptides of seasonal Influenza A H1N1.

MLS has also released:

• Rabbit antibodies specific to peptides from seasonal strains of Influenza A H1N1.
  (Influenza A/Brisbane/59/2007 (H1N1) and Influenza A/Georgia/20/2006 (H1N1)
  Do not cross-react with peptides of swine-origin Influenza A/California/14/2009 (H1N1)).

The above cross reactivity studies were done using the strain specific peptides.  Applications for the detection of Influenza strains from patient samples have not been tested.  

To develop these antibodies, amino acid regions were identified on the swine-origin Influenza A/California/14/2009 (H1N1) that were different on the seasonal Influenza A/Brisbane/59/2007 (H1N1) and the seasonal Influenza A/Georgia/20/2006 (H1N1). Synthetic peptides were prepared from these sequences and used to immunize the rabbits.  The difference between antibodies with similar specificities (i.e. Catalog #B01419R and #B01420R) is that the antibodies recognize different amino acid sequences.
